Today begins a new era for JLA Development. We are eagerly launching an entirely new branch of our company to handle a related, but different, market. Details coming soon.

Providing companies with internet exposure is a multi-faceted endeavor/challenge. The difficult part is the expanse of work that goes into the dissemination of pertinent information across, quite literally, a world-wide network. Competing with the world is a daunting task for any small business. We know, because JLA Development is in the same boat.

Today, we will be advocating paid backlinks with reservation. Ensure that what you are purchasing is an increased exposure and arguably more important, a higher PageRank. In our journeys the Yahoo Directory seems to be a good resource. However, I have been able to be listed in their directory with a non-profit site without any payment whatsoever. This challenge was overcome by submission to both the DMOZ.org as well as Wikipedia.

For now, I find myself in agreement with the majority of users who deem paying backlinks especially to sites link Yahoo Dir. important if your website is competing in the global market, with major saturation from other companies much like yourself.

Mailers, Designs and New Sites

Today, I personally went to the post office and snailed out a few handfuls of postcards. They looked real sharp and I hope people get the message! Results to follow.

As far as the design, we like to keep our page fresh and new. What better way to accomplish these goals then to update the site design, again!

JLA Development's clientele is growing by the day. We are pleased with the level of small businesses looking to JLA Development to obtain their website, the level of satisfaction said businesses have with our design and support, and how helpful our team has been in getting things done efficiently and effectively. These past few weeks have been quite busy for the company. A steady influx of new clients, coupled with updating a few old clients has been a great experience. We are just about doubling our clientele every two months!

We are launching a marketing campaign in the next few weeks. Google AdWords have been working wonders, but we want to try direct mailers. Just got the first batch back from the printer and we are hoping to have our shipping department get them out in the next few weeks.

In addition, we have been toying with the catch phrase, "one price, one package, no headaches." It is catchy and sums up our business model: Small business websites for a single monthly cost without fees. Without diverging too much, website designers really will nickle and dime you for blogs, message boards, shopping carts, products, search engine listings, etc. Stick with JLA Development, we will get your small business a website that looks great, works great and is hassle free!

Why Your Small Business Needs a Website

It has been estimated by the Small Business Administration (http://www.sba.gov/advo/research/) that there are over 17 million small businesses in the United States with over 100,000 started every month. Furthermore, it can be safely assumed that most consumers within most developed countries research most purchases and companies from whom they purchase by using the internet. The exception is granted towards those companies which have been established through many generations, but you will find that even these companies unilaterally always have websites. Therefore, just to be a viable player in small business, your company will absolutely need a website for company representation to your existing and potential clients.

Now we have found that the most difficult part about small businesses obtaining a website is the nickle-and-dime scam that occurs from these full-service design companies. Most web design companies bank (literally) that you do not know the complexities of a website and will charge you for this disadvantage. For instance, one company in particular will set your small business up with a web site for one fee, charge for tiered, limited hosting, charge extra for email, for a photo gallery, etc. The list goes on and on. Then by the time you get the site up and running with one of these web design companies (if it ever happens, some businesses feel so inundated that they never get to this point) two things happen: 1) you're out of money and 2) you're out of energy to devote to your main business.
